Mack Paul Sekimanga, known commercially as Makamua was born in August 9, 1985. Since his childhood, he enjoys listening to music and wanted to become a singer just like Michael Jackson. On the other hand, his mother wanted him to finish his education then he can venture into music. As Makamua recalls "I was there crying all day long, asking my mother to join my friends and I on our singing sessions and she would reply back you have to own a degree Mack and then go into music, that was torture to me".Makamua attended St Mary's International School and then moved to Feza Boys where he completed his primary education and started his O-level studies at the same school. By the end of the nineties, he began writing lyrics, hiding them in his school bag as he wanted nobody to know what he was doing after school hours. After completing his O-levels in 2004, he joined together with his friends Joslin and Q-Jay to form a musical group 'Wakali Kwanza'. He recorded his debut single 'Wanatamani' at MJ records, the track was an instant success, peaking top spots on the charts. The same year, he released another successful R&B Hit single 'Rudi Nyumbani' featuring Enika During this period, he became a draw in the Dar-es-salaam music scene, getting props from R&B music lovers. "I felt great when I heard people talking about me and my work, also I got nervous at times but kept it tight from there" Makamua says. Then he joined Makongo High School for his A-level studies and was M.I.A for about two years. In 2007, he released one of the Top Radio R&B Hit singles of the year, 'Why' featuring Chidi Benz. The track was nominated for the "Best Collaboration Song of the Year" at the 2008 Kilimanjaro Music Awards, "Being nominated is respect enough, thanks to all my fans who are there for me, I'm proud of them as I know, no me without them fans" he said. After 'Why', Makamua released 'Hunijui' featuring AY, a track based on a real life experience. ''Hunijui' is a track based on a real life story, so I said to myself I had to do it" says Makamua. At the moment, he is putting the finishing touches of his debut album which will be ready by the end of August and promising his fans an R&B album that they are supposed to have in their CD/Tape/MP3 collection. He thanks his family, Dj Steve B, Sarah Peter and all his fans for their support throughout his musical career. From the days of 4Krewz Flava, Makamua is definitely the saviour of Bongo R&B music.
